Welcome to the website of the 8th International Symposium on BioPIXE. Following a succesfull series of BioPIXE Symposia held in Sendai, Japan (1992), Beijing, China (1996), Kyoto, Japan (1999) , Mexico City, Mexico (2002), Wellington, New Zealand (2005), Richland, USA (2008), Sendai, Japan (2011), the BioPIXE 8 will be held in Bled, Slovenia, between September 14-19, 2014.
Particle-Induced X-ray Emmission (PIXE) is an established elementally-sensitive analytical method, able to detect and quantify extremely low concentrations of elements in analyzed material. BioPIXE Symposia are addressing all aspects of the PIXE method and focuses on its applications in environmental studies, biomedicine, earth sciences and archeometry. The venue of the meeting, a town Bled, is located on the shore of a glacially formed lake at the foothils of the Alps, in the well preserved yet fragile environment. This exceptional venue may particularly inspire the fruitful discussions and trigger new ideas among the scientists working with PIXE method.
In the name of the organizing institution, the Jožef Stefan Institute, We cordially invite you to the meeting and look forward to meet you in Bled!
